2010 Banff Mountain Festival Photography Competition
The Banff Centre is home to the Banff Mountain Festival. The photography competition always produces stunning results, as shown by this year winners. Here are two particularly impressive pictures (the one below less for the composition than for the tantalising and ephemeral beauty of the summital arête of Les Grandes Jorasses, I wish I was there!).

“wish I was there”: when scrambling up Mount Lady MacDonald today with Devin, we came to a knife edge ridge that was of the same kind as the Jorasses ridge. After saddling the ridge for about 100m in snow and fog, we decided against pushing further and came down safely…!
