The R Companion to MCSM (2)

The R book with George Casella is progressing in that the first drafts of three chapters are now completed on

  1. Introduction to R programming
  2. Monte Carlo methods
  3. Controlling and accelerating convergence

with new entries on bootstrapping simulation output, computing variance estimators, assessing convergence by effective sample size, perplexity and Brownian confidence bands. In my assessment, these 25K words and 97 pages represent between 25% and 30% of the whole book, if we keep our goal of eight chapters and about 300 pages. Given that we started at the end of October, the complete draft of the book should be ready by early April.
