Washington snapshots [day 5]

Capitol HillA last post from Washington. My daughter and I walked to the National Gallery of Art, which is always such a pleasure to visit… We went randomly through the rooms, Rachel staying longer in the impressionist gallery, which contains two versions of the fundametal series of Cathédrale de Rouen and one of the exhilarating Madame Monet et son fils, but enjoying as well other countries and other periods. We thus stopped at Andrew Wyeth’s Wind from the sea, Childe Hassam’s Allies Day 1917, and Thomas W. Dewey’s Lady with a luth.

We ended the visit to D.C. with a wonderful dinner at Georgia Brown, with surprisingly good combinations (jambalaya) of chicken, shrimp and even andouille, whose local cajun version tastes much more like pastrami and is spicier than its Vire (my favourite) or Guéméné counterparts.
