Yes III

No, I haven’t mixed my exclamation marks and my I’s on the keyboard: I am attending early this week the YES III meeting, where YES stands for Young European statisticians. The workshop is centred on Paradigms of Model Choice and is organised by Eurandom in Eindhoven, Holland. It is directed at young statisticians (mainly Ph.D. students and postdocs) who are interested in the problem of model choice and there are four short seminars of three 45 minute talks each on various aspects of model choice given by Laurie Davies, Duisburg-Essen, on approximate models and regularization, Peter Grünwald, Amsterdam, on the minimum description length principle,  Nils Hjort, Oslo on focused information criterion, and myself. I will cover my recent coverage of computational tool for Bayesian model choice and have the opportunity to expose the new results on the Dickey-Savage ratio for the first time! I am looking forward this meeting, having a fond memory of a previous Young Statisticians meeting in Ovronnaz, Switzerland a few years ago (including an epic hike with Jean-Michel Marin to the Muveran, where he took this great sunset picture of the Petit Muveran).

Ps- Another Yes!!! moment is that PNAS Editorial Board has reconsidered the decision to decline our letter, thus that the submission of our comments on Ratman et al. (June 30, 2009) has been allowed, with a further reduction of its length to 500 words and the standard provisions “Your Letter will be forwarded to the Editorial Board for consideration. The Board may decide to accept, reject, or ask for revisions to your Letter. Additionally, the Board may solicit a response from the authors. Accepted Letters will be published online only.”
