Obituary: Walter Bonatti

The great Italian alpinist Walter Bonatti passed away on September 13. He was 81 and had climbed many solo routes in the Alps, like the North face of Les Grandes Jorasses and of the Matterhorn (in winter). He wrote a beautiful book, The mountains of my life, about his experiences. The Telegraph wrote an (obviously!) longer obituary about him, covering the K2 controversy.
