art brut gallore
While in Sydney last weekend, the 18th Biennale of Sydney gave me the opportunity to visit Cockatoo Island. This contemporary art exhibition is actually set on several sites, incl. the museum of modern art, and one of them is this former industrial shipyard. Free ferries (more on that later) are connecting Sydney Harbour with the island and I spent a good amount of time around the dilapidated buildings and structures, more than checking on the temporary works of art there! Accumulating enough material for months of “art brut”! (You have been warned!)
The only negative part about this trip is that one had to rely on the ferries back to mainland: this is an island, after all!!, and the ferries were not that frequent (the downside of being free!), so I ended waiting on the dock and in the bitter cold, along with hundreds of people, for the last ferry of the day.
