data assimilation and reduced modelling for high-D problems [CIRM]

Next summer, from 19 July till 27 August, there will be a six week program at CIRM on the above theme, bringing together scientists from both the academic and industrial communities. The program includes a one-week summer school followed by 5 weeks of research sessions on projects proposed by academic and industrial partners.

end-to-end Bayesian learning [CIRM]

Next Fall, there will be a workshop at CIRM, Luminy, Marseilles, on Bayesian learning. It takes place 22-29 October 2021 on this wonderful campus at the border with the beautiful Parc National des Calanques, in a wonderfully renovated CIRM building and involves friends and colleagues of mine as organisers and plenary speakers. (I am not involved!, but plan to organise a scalable MCMC workshop there the year after!) The conference is well-supported and the housing fees will be minimal since the centre is also subsidized by CNRS. The deadline for contributed talks and posters is 22 March, while it is 15 June for registration. Hopefully by this time the horizon will have cleared up enough to consider traveling and meeting again. Hopefully. (In which case I will miss this wonderful conference due to other meeting and teaching commitments in the Fall.)

call for sessions and labs at Bay2sC0mp²⁰

A call to all potential participants to the incoming BayesComp 2020 conference at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, 7-10 January 2020, to submit proposals [to me] for contributed sessions on everything computational or training labs [to David Rossell] on a specific language or software. The deadline is April 1 and the sessions will be selected by the scientific committee, other proposals being offered the possibility to present the associated research during a poster session [which always is a lively component of the conference]. (Conversely, we reserve the possibility of a “last call” session made from particularly exciting posters on new topics.) Plenary speakers for this conference are

• Max Welling (University of Amsterdam)

and the first invited sessions are already posted on the webpage of the conference. We dearly hope to attract a wide area of research interests into a as diverse as possible program, so please accept this invitation!!!

MCMSki IV (call for proposals)

The next MCMSki IV conference will for the first time host contributed sessions as well as invited sessions. The scientific committee thus welcomes proposals for contributed talks and even more for contributed sessions. Contributed talks are scheduled to last 20 minutes, plus questions, and contributed sessions one hour and a half, including questions, which corresponds to 4 talks or 3 talks and a discussant.

Proposals should be sent to me, Christian Robert, before March 20, 2013, and includes the name of the speaker(s), the title of the talk(s), and a short 5-15 lines abstract(s). All speakers in a contributed session must be contacted and give their agreement prior to the submission of a session, obviously. The scientific committee will then evaluate the proposals and notify the session organiser/the speaker before April 20, 2013. We remind everyone that MCMSki IV will also schedule two evening poster sessions in the best tradition of the Valencia and MCMSki meetings, sessions in which everyone is welcome to present.

Topics for the proposals include “Big Data issues”, “computationally intensive Bayesian applications”, “probabilistic advances for MC methods”, “variance reduction techniques and Rao-Blackwellisation”, “MC for non-parametric Bayes inference “, “adaptive MC”, “interacting MC”, “INLA”, and “ABC”.
