Choose France – CNRS AI Rising Talents Programme for exceptionally talented early-career AI researchers

The French national scientific research institute, CNRS, is launching a one-shot call for hiring early-career  AI researchers on a 5 year 100% research position in any of the CNRS research units in France. Including ours in Paris Dauphine. The offer is quite generous in that the attached grant provides a full professor salary and support to hire postdocs and PhD students. Early career means two to seven years after PhD. The deadline is 30 November.

urgent call for two scholarships for COVID-19 research at the University of Insubria, Como, Italy

My friend Antonietta Mira sent me this urgent call for two short-term research positions at her Italian university, in Como, Lombardia, Italy. The deadline is 25 August, 2020! (Please send any enquiry to her, not to me!)

Professor Antonietta Mira has received financial support for two scholarships, one for 6 and the other one for 9 months, for research related to COVID-19.

The gross monthly salary is 2666 Euros per month. Most of the research can be conducted remotely. The starting date of the scholarships will be approximately the first of October 2020.

The application deadline is 25/08/2020 at noon. The two calls only differ by the duration of the position (6 months or 9 months). Interested candidates should submit one application for each of the two calls unless they have a specific preference for one of the two durations.

Applications should be sent by e-mail to segreteria.dipsat[AT]uninsubria.it with scanned handwritten signature and a copy of the identity card.

We are looking for is a brilliant researcher ideally with a doctorate in statistics or related subjects, autonomous in data analysis and estimation of models for forecasting. The researcher will collaborate with a research team with interdisciplinary competences. The research aims to predict the impact of the COVID-19 Wave on the Emergency and Urgency System in Lombardy.

If their PhD is not completed the applicants should finish their thesis by the end of the year or consider the research conducted under the fellowship as part of the research for the doctoral thesis.

The call is only available in Italian. Please note original documents and official translations are not needed when submitting the application. They will be only needed in case the applicant becomes the selected candidate for the position

postdoc at Warwick on robust SMC [call]

Here is a call for a research fellow at the University of Warwick to work with Adam Johansen and Théo Damoulas on the EPSRC and Lloyds Register Foundaton funded project “Robust Scalable Sequential Monte Carlo with application to Urban Air Quality”. To quote

The position will be based primarily at the Department of Statistics of the University of Warwick. The post holder will work closely in collaboration with the rest of the project team and another postdoctoral researcher to be recruited shortly to work within the Data Centric Engineering programme at the Alan Turing Institute in London. The post holder will be expected to visit the Alan Turing Institute regularly.

Candidates with strong backgrounds in the mathematical analysis of stochastic algorithms or sequential Monte Carlo methods are particularly encouraged to apply. Closing date is 19 Jan 2020.

tenured research position on ABC in Paris!

Paris and la Seine, from Pont du Garigliano, Oct. 20, 2011Just to make sure this fabulous announcement has not gone undetected: there is a permanent research (I repeat, permanent research!) position in statistics is open at AgroParisTech/INRA (a French institute/school on biology, agronomy, veterinary sciences, environmental sciences) with the profile ‘Approximate inference methods for complex systems’ (Hence my title!).
