Being next to Musée [national des arts asiatiques] Guimet by a cold Saturday afternoon made us stop by and check on the ongoing exhibit, which happened to be around Genji Monogatari (The Tales of the Genji), the classic work of Japanese literature (and the first psychological novel) written in the 11th Century by Murasaki Shikibu. With a focus on the Kyoto weaver Itarô Yamaguchi creating four tapestries inspired from the book. The museum was unfortunately closing early, too early, so we did not have much time to revisit the permanent exhibit, worth the trip by itself. (Plus a bagfull of Japanese novels!)
